Clean chalk couture transfers

When I run a workshop things can get a little hectic. There is usually a fair amount of people as they are all armed with chalk paste and ready to create. This is great because I love to help people make beautiful Chalk Couture decor that they can proudly display. The down side is all the chalk paste covered transfers at the end or even in the middle of the event. Which usually means I need to quickly show a few people how to clean Chalk Couture transfers.

This is one of the great benefits of Chalk Couture. The paste is washable and the transfers are all reusable. So you just have to clean chalk couture transfers, let them dry and viola they are ready to go for the next round! Nice right? But now you are probably wondering how do you clean chalk couture transfers? That is also very easy!!

How to Clean Chalk Couture Transfers

Here are some very simple steps to follow to get your transfers clean and ready for the next time you want to chalk something pretty!

Step 1: Rinse the transfer off with cool water. Generally if I have more then one transfer to clean I will put a small amount of cool water in my kitchen sink and place the transfers to soak while rinse each one off.

Step 2: As you rinse the transfer wipe all the excess chalk paste off with your fingers or even better with a chalk couture board eraser. Pay close attention to the screen to be sure you do not leave any bits in there to dry. The chalk paste will easily wipe clean from the transfer however if you also use the board eraser it will help remove any staining on the transfer. If you don’t already have a board eraser you can pick one up here.

Step 3: I like to lay my transfers sticky side up on a towel and let them air dry if I have time. Sometimes in the midst of chalking people will want to reuse the same transfer right away. For those times I just lay the transfer flat, sticky side up, and dab the sticky part until it’s mostly dry. Then I use a disinfectant wipe and give it a quick wipe and wave it about like a flag until it is good and dry. Then it is all ready to use again.

Step 4: Once your transfer is all clean and dry place it back on to the backing paper and slide it back in to the plastic cover it came in.

That’s it, that’s all! It really is just that easy to clean Chalk Couture transfers. And by keeping them clean and well cared for they will last for a good 10-12 more uses. I have even heard of some people reusing their transfers 20 or more times. That is why it is so important to take the time to care for your transfers properly.
